Privacy Policy

Coloris is a camera-based color picker that does its job entirely on your device. This policy explains exactly what the app touches, and what it never does.

Effective Date: 25 August 2026
Last Updated: 25 August 2026
Jurisdiction: India

The short version: Coloris samples your camera feed live, on your device, to identify colors. Nothing you point the camera at, and nothing you save, is uploaded anywhere. There's no account, and no image or color ever leaves your phone unless you choose to share it yourself.

Section 01

Overview

Coloris ("Coloris", "we", "us", or "our") is a mobile app that turns your phone's camera into a live color picker, showing hex, RGB, and a nearest color name for anything you point it at. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app touches, how it's used, and the choices you have.

Coloris is a single-purpose utility. There is no account system, no login, and no social features anywhere in the app. The camera feed is processed live, on your device, purely to sample color values, it is not recorded, analyzed for content, or transmitted unless you actively choose to save or share a result.

By using Coloris, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please discontinue use of the app.

Section 02

Camera Access

Coloris requests camera permission for one reason only: to sample the color of whatever your camera is pointed at, in real time. This is the app's entire function.

  • The camera feed is processed live, in memory, to read pixel color values at the reticle. It is not recorded as video, and it is not sent to any server, ours or otherwise.
  • Camera access is requested on first launch, with a plain-language explanation before the native permission prompt appears.
  • If you deny or later revoke camera access, the app shows a calm explanation of how to re-enable it from your phone's settings, it does not function as a color picker without this permission, since that is its core purpose.
Section 03

Saved Colors & Gallery Import

When you tap Save, Coloris stores the sampled color (hex, RGB, and a timestamp) to a local, on-device list. When you import a photo from your gallery to sample from, that photo is read only to let you drag the reticle across it, it is not uploaded or copied outside the app.

  • Saved colors live entirely on your device, in the app's own local storage. There is no cloud sync and no server-side copy.
  • Gallery photos you import are used only for on-screen sampling and are not retained by the app beyond that session, unless you separately save a sampled color from them.
  • Sharing a saved color uses your device's native share sheet, handing the color card or text to whichever app you choose, Coloris does not manage or see that transfer itself.
Section 04

What We Never Do

  • We never upload your camera feed, imported photos, or saved colors. Everything stays on your device. We have no backend that receives image or color data from the app.
  • We never analyze what your camera sees beyond color values. No object recognition, no image analysis, no AI scanning of your surroundings. The app reads pixel color and matches it to a nearest name, nothing more.
  • We never sell your data. No data brokers, no third-party data sales, no advertising built on your camera activity or saved colors.
  • We never require an account. There is no sign-up or login anywhere in the app, so there is no profile of you for us to build in the first place.
Section 05

Ads & the One-Time Purchase

The free version of Coloris is supported by a small, fixed banner ad, placed so it never overlaps the reticle, result card, or capture button, and never as an interstitial that would interrupt live sampling. Ads are served through a third-party ad network, which may use standard advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads; this is separate from and unrelated to your camera feed or saved colors, which the ad network never receives.

An optional one-time (non-subscription) purchase removes the ad banner permanently. This purchase is processed entirely through the App Store / Play Store's native billing APIs via RevenueCat.

  • We do not see or store your payment card details, these are handled entirely by Apple/Google.
  • Your purchase/unlock status is checked locally against the app store's own purchase record on each launch. There is no Echozat account or server tracking your purchase.
  • Restoring your purchase on a new device uses the app store's native "Restore Purchases" mechanism, not an email or account-based system.
Section 06

How We Use Data

PurposeData Used
Live color sampling from the cameraCamera feed, processed on-device only, never stored or transmitted
Sampling colors from an imported photoThe selected photo, read on-device only, for the duration of the session
Saving a color for laterHex, RGB, and timestamp, stored only in local on-device storage
Serving the banner ad (free tier only)Standard advertising identifiers, via the ad network, not linked to camera or color data
Processing the optional one-time purchaseStore transaction confirmation only

We do not use any data collected by the app for profiling, tracking across other apps, or automated decision-making.

Section 07

How We Share Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Data is shared only as strictly necessary to operate the app:

  • Advertising network — serves the fixed banner ad in the free tier, using standard mobile ad identifiers, never during active sampling.
  • App Store / Play Store, via RevenueCat — processes the optional one-time purchase; we never see your payment details.
  • OS-level share sheet — when you tap share on a saved color, your device hands that data to whichever app you choose.

We may disclose data if required by law, regulation, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Coloris, our users, or the public.

Section 08

Data Retention

  • Camera feed: Never stored. Processed live, in memory, for as long as the live picker is open, and discarded immediately after.
  • Saved colors: Retained on your device, unlimited by count, until you delete them or uninstall the app. We hold no copy.
  • Purchase records: Retained by the App Store / Play Store per their own policies; not retained by us beyond the local, on-device unlock flag.
Section 09

Your Rights & Choices

Because Coloris stores almost nothing beyond what already lives on your own device, most of your rights are already satisfied by design:

🗑

Delete Anytime

Delete any saved color directly within the app, individually or all at once.

🔌

Revoke Permissions

Turn off camera access at any time from your device's app settings.

📵

Limit Ad Personalization

Use your device's OS-level controls to reset or limit ad tracking identifiers.

Section 10

Security

  • The camera feed is processed entirely in-memory, on-device, and is never written to disk or transmitted over a network.
  • Saved colors are protected by your device's own operating system storage security, the same as other locally-stored app data.
  • Purchase verification runs through Apple/Google's billing APIs via RevenueCat, which use industry-standard encryption in transit.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we rely on your device's own OS-level protections and reputable platform partners, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Section 11

Children's Privacy

Coloris is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, please contact us.

Section 12

Changes to This Policy
